What is Your Problem?

Creativity is the solution to a problem.

Maybe it is boredom or loneliness,
or a way to communicate an idea,
or to validate yourself.
To teach something, to learn something.
Maybe it is a way to make a square peg fit into a round hole.

Art is a problem solved.

My image today solves my problem of contrast (for today).

Curved with straight,
Dark with light,
warm with cool,
clarity and vague
opaque and transparent.

I love this. The “problem” as something protean, ever-changing, the solution being the practice. It steals the power over “problem-solution” from the world of corporate and always-rational and gives us creatives the sense of doing the work, generously sharing concrete (for today) solutions.
