February Wildflowers

I’m thinking of my friends wintering the year in the Northern Hemisphere. When I lived in Canada, February felt like the longest month of the year. In truth, the sun has stayed out longer each day since December, but the grip of the cold penetrates the mind, and by the time February rolls around, the war against winter feels never-ending.

So, to my Northern friends, this is a reminder that spring is just around the corner. One month from now, at the equinox on March 20th, the day will equal the night, and from there, summer is steps away.

Here in Portugal, the winter is milder, and the first wildflowers have started to appear in the fields.

These are some of my wildflower photos from this week.
